A Literary Milestone

The boys read to ME for their night-night books tonight!! I'm so excited and proud. First James read us Amazing Sharks. He's really becoming an incredible reader. He correctly pronounced "predator" and "cartilage"!

Then Eli whips out some phonics books that he has refused to look at anytime I suggested them and plowed right through the first 5! "Dot did nap. Cat did not nap."

Three cheers for my boys!

The three of us on Marco Island, FL. I took this pic, catching my 2 girls off-guard.

where did my day go?

This is what I did today:

Made breakfast for everybody
went to Eli's soccer game (he won!)
Made lunch for everybody
went to James's soccer game (he lost :(
Looked at too-expensive new houses
Cleaned up the dishes from breakfast & dinner
Made dinner for everybody

Here's what I need to do:

Put everybody to bed
clean up the dinner dishes

Here's what I want to do:

Eat ice cream and watch a movie

The freezer is calling me...

Karate Kids

Here are our proud orange belt boys! They started karate in November and it has been a fantastic activity. The word for this month is "discipline". You gotta love another adult (the ultra cool Mr. Pepper) teaching your kids to "do what you know is right". And what's not to like about kicking, punching, and screaming?

Maybe Sarah's activity will be yoga :)

pictures...

...say a thousand words. Which is a lot more than I can manage today.
Posting this during a Monopoly break. The boys can't get enough of that game! Eli has every single rent for every single property memorized. He can tell you how much to pay for St. James with 3 houses on it in 2 seconds flat!

Maybe the boys will grow up to be business tycoons and support us in our old age. :)

Let me just put this Cheerio in here...

Mmmmm....

Sarah doesn't want to have anything to do with that babyfood stuff. But she LOVES Cheerios and bits of banana.

And one last pic, cause she's just so darn cute...

Spring "Break"

I've been inspired by some other friend's blogs to begin one of our own! We'll see how long I can keep this up...

No school or soccer this week for the boys. Mama is going to need her own break after this Spring Break week! We went to the zoo on Tuesday with Leslie and her boys, Jeff & Jeremy. I was surprised to discover that the new "Oklahoma Trails" exhibit was actually very enjoyable. Shame on me for thinking an exhibit on native OK animals sounded like the most boring zoo experience ever. Don't laugh...you should have seen those catfish!

Turns out the boys thought climbing on the lion statue was more fun than seeing actual lions. And riding the carousel was even better. Eli snagged the tiger on the carousel, while James had to make do with a tapir. You could tell he was a little bummed. Luckily, Leslie had the perfect bit of zoo trivia - last year a tapir at the OKC zoo bit off a woman's arm. Whoo-hoo! Who knew those mild looking tapirs were really fierce arm rippers? James was thrilled.

Angel baby Sarah is on the move! I set her on the far side of the family room and she is SO pleased with herself when she squirms her way over to suck on the tile step on the other side of the room. She also giggles while she wildly tears magazines apart. Her favorite playthings on earth are her big brothers. Tonight at dinner she thrilled the boys by correctly looking at each one when asked, "Where's Eli?" (turns right to Eli) and "Where's James?" (turns to look at James).

If you're not bored by our everyday bits, tune in tomorrow for info on adding solids to Sarah's diet and photos, I promise.
