Ice Day!

Here in Oklahoma, a "snow day" would be a very rare event, but the last 3 winters the kids have all had days off from school because of ice storms. We missed the last two years - with very lucky timing we happened to be on vacation for both big storms. This 2009 Ice Storm wasn't bad at all compared to those - we never lost power or had any broken tree limbs. Just enough ice to make roads too slippery to drive. So the boys had yesterday and today off from school - here's some of what we did to keep busy:

Finger painting! This was Sarah's choice for her "fun thing". (They each got to pick one activity to make top priority for the day - James had me read aloud from Harry Potter and Eli had us all play a game of Life.) Overheard from the big boys about fingerpainting : "This is alot more fun than I thought it would be!"

Bundled up to go outside. Mama said no to going out and risking life and limb all morning. When Daddy got home in the afternoon they all rushed to him, begging to go outside. He of course said Yes. Thankfully no broken bones, or even sore tushies from falls.

Hot chocolate with marshmallows... Check out those rosy frozen cheeks!

On tap for today...movies and rice krispie treats. Please re-open school for tomorrow!
